Urszula and Slawek visited Budapest three years ago and asked me to shoot their engagement photos in the Castle District. It wasn’t Urszula’s first visit to the city, as she had studied there years earlier. This year, Ula reached out to me because they were planning a pre-wedding photo shoot in Barcelona. Since they liked my previous work, they wanted to hire me as their photographer. They planned a portrait shoot and a symbolic ceremony at the Polish consulate, with a larger wedding celebration to follow later in Poland. Slawek, an architect and admirer of Antonio Gaudí, chose Barcelona as their setting; we decided to focus the shoot around Gaudí’s works.

We had two days for the photo shoot. On the first day, we visited Gaudí’s main masterpiece, Sagrada Familia. Taking photos inside was challenging due to the crowds, and we couldn’t use any additional lighting, so I had to shoot primarily upward in low light. That evening, we returned to downtown for a brief night shoot in front of Casa Milà and Casa Batlló. Casa Batlló was beautifully lit and made a striking backdrop. Fortunately, Slawek’s two sons were with us and assisted with lighting the couple.

On the second day, we began at the Polish Consulate, where they held a small ceremony. Afterwards, we went to Park Güell, another iconic Gaudí site. We took many photos there, including some with the Gaudí House Museum, his residence from 1906 to 1925. As sunset approached, we returned to Hotel SB BCN Events, where we were staying, and ended the day with a small wedding dinner together, a lovely conclusion to our two-day shoot.

Overall, the schedule was packed, leaving little time for rest. Although it was challenging to work in crowded tourist areas, it was a rewarding experience, and we captured some fantastic moments.
